Foundation Awards Two Grants
The Marshall Education
Foundation has announced winners of the 2011 Teacher
Classroom Grants.
They are Jill Bibb, Josh
Roberson, Mary Hickerson, Sally Hobbs, Brent Adcox
and Vicky Carlton, according to Barbara Woods,
spokeswoman for the foundation.
The grants are in memory of Kathryn and Raymond
Adams, and Linda Bussart.
The family of Kathryn and Raymond Adams awards a
$500 grant to a secondary school teacher in the
field of English or agriculture. The Adams'
individual dedication to their areas of expertise is
the inspiration for this gift.
Since 2006, the family of Linda Bussart has
memorialized her contribution to the teaching
profession by awarding block grants to secondary
school teachers.
These grants are administered through the Marshall
Education Foundation each fall.
This year, the $500 Adams' scholarship was awarded
to Bibb, a Forrest teacher
who plans a student-led, after-school tutoring
program at Forrest.
Roberson and Hickerson received Linda Bussart grants
for their ideas in woodworking and science.
At Cornersville School, Hobbs was awarded a Linda
Bussart grant for her program, "Money Habitudes," to
be used in the Life Connections class.
History teacher Adcox and business teacher Vicky
Carlton received Bussart grants for their proposals
in their subject areas.
Lewisburg Middle School also received a Bussart
grant for an idea submitted by the Math Department.
