1. What is Dual
Enrollment?
High school juniors and
seniors have the opportunity to participate in college
classes offered during the fall and spring semesters each
year while simultaneously attending high school.
The
Tennessee Dual Enrollment Grant
program is defined as a grant for study that is state
lottery program funded and awarded to students who are
attending high school and who are enrolled in college
courses at eligible postsecondary institutions for which
they will receive college credit.
2. What is the role of the Marshall Education Foundation?
The Marshall Education Foundation has supported public,
private and home-schooled high school students from Marshall
County since the beginning of its involvement in this vital
education program. The Marshall Education Foundation covers
the tuitions costs beyond what is covered by the Tennessee
Dual Enrollment Grant for one class per semester.
The Marshall Education Foundation works closely with
Marshall County guidance counselors each semester. Students
may receive up to six higher education credit hours annually
by participating in the Dual Enrollment program. In Marshall
County, the eligible postsecondary institution is Columbia
State Community College.
3. What are the program requirements?
►High
school junior or senior status with a cumulative high school
GPA of 3.0 or higher (students with no ACT or SAT scores may
be eligible for certain courses if their GPA is at least
3.2)
►Submission
of ACT/SAT scores (An ACT reading score of 19 or higher or
SAT composite of 900 or higher required)
For any Math courses, An ACT math score of 19 or higher (SAT
Math score of 460 or higher required)
►For any
English or Speech courses, An ACT English score of 19 or
higher (SAT Verbal score of 460 or higher required)
►Submission
of a Dual Enrollment Application complete with signatures of
consent from parent/guardian and high school
principal/guidance counselor
►Submission
of a completed and processed grant
application by the deadline dates:
a) September 1st for fall enrollment
b) February 1st for spring enrollment
c) May 1st for summer enrollment
(Student and high school official must complete and sign
Sections I and II)
►Submission
of an official high school transcript
Students admitted without ACT/SAT scores must submit an ACT
reading score of 19 or SAT composite of 900 before enrolling
a second semester.
Once enrolled, to continue receiving the Dual Enrollment
Grant, students must maintain at least a 2.75 college GPA.
(Students enrolling without the grant need only maintain a
2.0 college GPA.)
4. How do I apply?
If planning to attend Columbia State Community College,
submit a Dual Enrollment Admission Application to the
Columbia State Community College Office of Admissions.
Applications are available at each high school guidance
counselor’s office at all Columbia State Community College
Campuses and
online.

online.
5. Let's Talk Money.
The Tennessee Dual
Enrollment grant provides $300.00 per semester.
The Marshall Education Foundation provides the difference
between the grant and tuition.
The student is responsible for the cost of books and
transportation.

Marshall Education Foundation.
